Front pivot subassembly and loader arms

Some work on the front pivot assembly and loader arms. I wanted to determine the exact placement of the loader arms in order to determine the volume I have available for the cab and engine.

Tractor hydraulics

For the hydraulics, I am using the drive components from a 80's Powerboss floor scrubber. I requested and recieved the Powerboss manual from their email support, it has wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics. This scrubber has a gas engine, rated at 49 HP but governed to 36HP @ 2400 rpm. The hydraulics should be a good match for my tractor. I will be using the Isuzu diesel with the following parts. Picked it up for scrap price and should save a lot over purchasing the parts individually. There should be no guess work involved.

Variable displacement drive pump, Cessna, 1.24 cu.in. per rev, 4000psi relief valves
Accessory pump, 0.84 cu.in. per rev, 2200 psi relief valves
Drive motor, Char-Lynn 4000 series, 15 cu.in. per rev, 4000psi relief valves
6 Gallon reservoir
Misc hoses, valves, filters, heat exhanger, etc...

Tractor front pivot

Progress made on the frame for the front pivot assembly, however it is not finished yet. I need to weld up the orange assembly shown in the CAD drawing and finish welding joints. It was kind of a bear to line up everything so it won't bind up , but I think I've got it pretty good. It will use two 1.25" pivot pins with grease fittings. Don't laugh but I am currently working on this project in the back of a 16' box truck. With the doors open it is great to use for welding and grinding. This keeps the metal dust out of the garage not to mention I am space challenged in the garage.

The beginning...



The first of many projects. I am working on a DIY homemade tractor. It utilizes automotive parts to reduce costs.

3/4 Ton Chevrolet Truck axles
NP208 part time transfer case
SM465 4 speed transmission (for drive)
80's Isuzu C223 Diesel Engine and 4 speed manual transmission (for pto)
Variable displacement hydraulic pump and fixed displacement hydraulic motor (for drive)
